Galaxy S9 now receiving its first software update
The Galaxy S9 has barely started making its way into the hands of the public, yet it’s already receiving its first software update.
Samsung has released a routine maintenance update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, according to SamMobile, designed to improve on a number of the pre-release software’s (the build reviewers have been using) shortcomings.
The upgrade also bundles all of the changes included in this month’s Security Maintenance Release, targetted at plugging a hole that could enable hackers to gain access to an Android device by baking malicious code into a standard DOC file.

Needless to say, there aren’t any new features included in the release – and that’s because the Galaxy S9 ships running the latest version of Android 8.0 Oreo, complete with a number of added tools, such as AR Emoji and Bixby.

To check to see if the update is ready for your Galaxy S9 when it arrives, head into Settings, select About Device, then tap Download Updates Manually. Alternatively, you can always wait until you receive an alert prompting you to install the upgrade.
